Visual Impact is a customizable, multimedia task training, and skill maintenance program designed to help individuals with cognitive disabilities be more independent. Task performance is supported using pictures, recorded instructions and text which the caregiver provides to allow users to see and hear step-by-step prompts on any task. HomeCare Assistant is a specialized software system for use on Tablet PCs to make it easier for family caregivers to perform health care services and keep track of the services that have been provided. These devices are lightweight, have built in speakers, microphone, and touchscreen, are portable and can be used to present detailed instructions to family members on how to accomplish health care activities correctly while in the home. HomeCare Assistant utilizes instructional media created according to the AIMS protocal. This system can also be used on a standard desktop computer running the Windows operating system. HomeCare Assistant is "AIMS Ready."
